Cipmox 250 mg is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It contains the active ingredient Amoxycillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic that works to stop the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic drug is only effective in treating bacterial infections. It treats throat, ear, and nasal sinus infections, respiratory tract (pneumonia), skin and soft tissue, and typhoid fever. It will not work for viral infections like the common cold and flu.
Taking an antibiotic when it is unnecessary can cause it not to work for future infections. Cipmox may also be used with other medicines to eliminate the bacteria known as H.pylori in people with stomach/intestinal ulcers. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that stops the growth of a wide range of bacteria.
How To Use
Cipmox is available as capsules that must be taken orally before or after consuming food, usually every 8 or 12 hours. Drink a lot of fluids during the treatment. Do not miss doses and finish the treatment course even if you feel better. Early discontinuation of the treatment may cause the infection to return or worsen. The doctor should decide the duration of the treatment and precise dosage. Cipmox usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, for best results, you should continue to take it as instructed, even if you feel better, to ensure all bacteria are destroyed.
Precautions
Before taking Cipmox 250 mg, let your doctor know if you are allergic to penicillin or any penicillin-type drug. Also, let him/her know of your medical history, especially of kidney disorder or a certain type of Viral infection. This antibiotic medicine causes live bacterial vaccines not to work sufficiently. Antibiotic medicine is generally safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, but it is wise to ask your doctor. Taking methotrexate along with Amoxicillin may contribute to drug interaction. Using Cipmox at the time of Amoxycillin can lower the effectiveness of birth control pills. Take an expert's advice before using other contraception methods (condom, diaphragm) during the treatment.
Side Effects
Vomiting, rash, nausea, diarrhea, and allergic reactions may occur in contraception in some patients. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve within a few days. Seek medical help if these side effects persist or your condition worsens. Using this antibiotic agent for prolonged periods may lead to oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection. Immediately seek medical help if you develop white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge, or the onset of other new symptoms.
