If you have difficulty in swallowing the capsules, it can be opened and sprinkled into a teaspoonful of applesauce and stirred into the mixture. The mixture should then be consumed immediately. The contents of the capsule can also be mixed into cottage cheese, yogurt, strained pears, apple, orange and tomato. Please note that the mixture should be consumed immediately afterwards.
For patients with nasogastric tubes in their system, the Prevacid capsules may be opened and the granules can be mixed with 40ml of apple juice to be injected through the nasogastric tube in the stomach.
