Xenical (Orlistat)

Xenical Information

Orlistat, also known under its brand name - Xenical, is a drug that belongs in the Lipase inhibitors class. It acts mainly by preventing the human body from assimilating certain fat substances in food and is in essence, a form of weight loss medication. Although it may do wonders for people suffering from obesity and other fat related health problems, it also prevents the calories from settling down on the body. The best results of Xenical treatment are obtained when following a controlled diet – please consult with your health care specialist to find out more about this. One of this drug's main advantages is that it does not stop working after the unwanted weight has been cut down, but keeps acting as a preventive agent protecting the body from future weight gains, and thus preventing obesity and other fat related health problems from settling back in. Its advantages come at a cost, though, as Xenical treatment may cause a larger number of side effects than other weight reducing drugs available on the market – it is recommended to closely follow the instructions obtained from the personal health care specialist at all times, to avoid unwanted problems.

Xenical Indications

The Xenical weight loss treatment is recommended for patients that suffer from obesity or other weight and fat related afflictions. It is also used to prevent weight regain and fat related health issues from recurring. If you have any questions as to why you have been prescribed Xenical, ask your health care specialist.

Xenical Warnings

Before you purchase Xenical online, understand that there may have various unwanted effects. It is recommended that you consult your personal health care specialist before starting treatment with this drug, and let them know about any other drugs you are taking or planning to start taking in the near future, as well as any allergies you may have to Lipase inhibitors. The following health conditions or related illnesses that you have or have had in the past should also be divulged:

  • High blood sugar
  • Chronic mal-absorption syndrome
  • Kidney stones
  • Gallbladder problems
  • Anorexia
  • Bulimia

Studies made so far have shown that Xenical should be safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, it does affect the amount of vitamins absorbed from food, so in some cases extra caution or an alternate treatment may be required. Consult your personal health care specialist if you are breastfeeding or pregnant – or planning to become soon – to further establish the appropriate course of action.

Xenical Intake Guidelines

Take your dose of Xenical accompanied by a glass of water, anywhere within one hour of your main meal, which should not include more than 30% of fat. As Xenical reduces the vitamin absorbing power of the body, vitamin supplements should be taken regularly. Ask your health care specialist for a list of nutritional supplements appropriate for treatment with this drug, as well as for any other advices he or she may consider appropriate.

Xenical Dosage

Xenical dosage may vary from one case to another, depending on various factors such as age, weight and general health condition. Contact your personal health care specialist to obtain your exact dosage and intake schedule.

Xenical Overdose

The symptoms of Xenical overdose have not yet been clearly established. If you suspect you are suffering from Orlistat overdose, contact your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital as soon as possible. Avoid changing in any way the intake schedule that was prescribed by your health care specialist, either by altering the dosage or the intervals between intakes.

Xenical Missed Dose

It is recommended that you closely follow the intake schedule prescribed by your personal health care specialist. However, if you happen to miss one dose, you should take it as soon as you remember then continue with the normal intake schedule. If it is almost time for another intake, skip that dose entirely and consult with your personal health care specialist to establish if another course of action should be taken in the future. You should never take a double dose of Xenical unless your doctor directly instructs you to do so.

Xenical Side Effects
